Flyover Country Invites you
Flyover Country's creative practitioners have been hard at work translating the music of Kcymaerxthaere's endangered Tehachapic orchestra into visual art and performance for Bengaluru's public spaces. On November 26th we hit ground at Wheeler Road flyover in Cox Town Bangalore. The pillars on the underbelly of the flyover were scrubbed, garbage cleared and rubble removed. We made friends with the vegetable vendors who took shelter from the rain and the sun, the resident opposite who gave us space to store our materials and the restaurants who fed our artists as they put their sweat and tears into manifesting their online workshop imaginings.
We look forward to celebrating all the energy that has gone into energising public spaces from the slumber of a pandemic with high quality creativity. Join our artists and the neighbourhood as we come together to walk around the murals, and watch 3 amazing theatre groups come together.
- citylamps will engage the locals with playback theatre unpacking ideas of like 'who is the public?', 'who does this space belong to?' what is the role of public art in the urban context?
- Still Space Theatre will work with Sri Idagunji Mahaganapathi Yakshagana Mandali to present a piece of theatre that renders the Flyover Country story from Kcymaerxthaere as a performative piece.
Open invitation to all Bangaloreans to come by and join the fun!
